freewrl (VRML) plugin crashes firefox =(

I just installed freewrl (had to d/l the file manually from the site because apt-get will not find it?) and it installs and appears to be good, but when I try to load a known-good-working wrl file the browser hangs and crashes.

It used to work perfectly on the previous release of kubuntu that I was using...

    Any ideas ?

    Hi,

I am running on amd 64 and have this one loaded as a plugin and it works for me.
    npfreewrl.so
    V4.3 VRML/X3D with FreeWRL. from http://www.crc.ca/FreeWRL

      I also have :
      FreeWRL X3D/VRML

      File name: npfreewrl.so
      V4.6 VRML/X3D with FreeWRL. from http://www.crc.ca/FreeWRL
but it just crashes the browser now... sux.

I can't seem to find any documentation on how to correct this.

Were you able to d/l this via apt-get on feisty ?

If so, what repositories did u add besides the ones that it comes with stock ?

Also, if I run it from the command line, as suggested in the freewrl FAQ, I get this error:

Ok, I got it to work now..

I have an ATI radeon card, so I install the radeon driver package...

Then, I also installed a few GLX drivers from the list , some did not initially work, but eventually I installed:

libxcb-glx0 and I think that did the trick...

Funny how those things come around to bite you...... I too downloaded it from the site and not apt-get.
My next suggestion would have been to check video adapter. I use nvidia so thats where we would have parted company.
            Glad you got it working................
