    Re: drivers??

It would help to know the exact name and model of your wireless card. There are some cards that have restricted drivers that you have to download (such as the Atheros cards with Madwifi) and there are some that simply have no drivers.

        Re: drivers??

Post the output of the command "lspci". That will list all the PCI devices in your system, and we can work from there.

If the HP website had Linux drivers for your hardware, I would eat my laptop.

Well, I looked up Broadcom on Wikipedia to get the link to Broadcom's site, and noticed a section entitled "Problems with Linux":
Broadcom's wireless cards are known to have several problems with Linux. Users of these cards may have trouble setting them up in Linux. [1] Though now the Linux kernel (as of 2.6.17) does include an open-source driver for some of Broadcom's WiFi chipsets, it is a detection-only driver and requires the end-user to "rip" firmware from a Broadcom-supplied Windows driver. Users have reported that this often does not work.
Following link [1], one can reach this page, which lists the 4318 as unstable.

NdisWrapper apparently works with the Windows driver. NdisWrapper is in the repos, and the Windows driver is here. (To use it, you must add "noapic nolapic acpi=off" to your kernel command line, though.)
            For external use only.
