Restricted Drivers Manager

I attempted to install the Restricted Drivers Manager through Add/Remove programs, as well as through Konsole. It is successfully installed, however it does not appear in the K Menu. I have been told I need this to get the 3D acceleration for my x1400 working properly.

Does anyone know how to get it to show in the K Menu, or alternately how to use it for my purposes through Konsole?

I appreciate any help, and thank-you in advance.

i didn't even know there was one. i thoguht package managers served that purpose... as in install, reinstall, uninstall, etc.

UPDATE:
you need to be more careful about what you install. read & know what it is before you install it. that is a gnome program. not that its impossible (afaik) to run it on kubuntu, but you just prolly don't have the proper gnome-related packages installed if you can't get it to run. either that, or it really does work only on a gnome desktop environment.

Update: I managed to get it running with:

sudo restricted-manager

My 3D acceleration works! Finally! I am so proud of myself. lol Learning Linux can be a bit tricky, but I am getting the hang of things!

I attempted to edit the K Menu, and added sudo restricted-manager as the command. However, when I attempt to launch it via the K Menu, it has the icon bobbing beside the cursor for a minute then goes away without the app being launched. Did I not enter the proper command?

Try: kdesu restricted-manager instead of "sudo restricted-manager".

What does kdesu mean?
I couldn't find a full list of commands and what they do.

Don't quote me but I believe it is a sudo kommand to start kde apps

kdesu is used for apps, while sudo is used for commands.

Even if you're running an app from a terminal, you MUST use kdesu. Using sudo for an app could actually do damage to your system (though how, I don't know).
