    Printing problem

Hi, I've just upgraded to Feisty Fawn. Everything goes fine, except this little printing problem. I used to print to a distant printer on the university network, but it no longer works.
I tried to reinstall cups and it solve half of the problem. Now, the test-page print correctly, but I'm still unable to print any other kind of document. (pdf, openoffice, kate, kile...)

    anyone has an idea ?
    thanks,

    SKF

    Re: Printing problem

goto system settings>printers switch to admin mode and then print server manager? i think is the tab. toggle print filter. you have to move any installed printer from the left pane to the right pane for apps like Oo.o to use the printer.
I tried Enlightenment once, it was pretty cool.

      Re: Printing problem

      Hi SKF
First is the printer still there?
Were you using an IP address to the printer?
Is it setup as network printer thought a print server?
Has the IT department updated the print server and rename the printer?

At work we have over 10 print servers and we replace 2 or 3 a year.
In the last 2 years we have been renaming the print servers.
When we replace a print server we give a new name.
Because we have to test the new print server to make such that all the print driver are installed properly.
After a month of testing is done, then it go on line for all users.
The users are inform to change to the new printer server and printer name.
After about a week the old print server is removed.

I hope this info helps a little.
      Good Luck
and check with the IT department.
