Need help installing KDE 3.5.7

Hi there,

I tried to install KDE 3.5.7 on my Kubuntu Feisty and followed the given instructions word by word. Download and installation took about 10 minutes and the full upgrade seemed to work, no error message.

But: After restarting the machine nothing has changed. Everything looks as it looked before. To check if the upgrade worked I started KDevelop which should be the new version 3.4.1 but it is still 3.4.0.

Did I forget a step I don't know as a linux beginner or how can I check which version of KDE is installed? (Adept Manager says when I search for the KDevelop packages 3.4.0 installed, 3.4.1 is not found)

Please help...

All the kde apps (like konsole or kpdf) should have a item on the help menu called "About KDE". You can check your version there.

I tried it with KOrganizer. It says "KDE 3.5.7", so it seems that the upgrade has worked at all.

But why is KDevelop the old Version. It was the reason for me to update. What should I do do get it updated?

I can't find Kdevelop in the 3.5.7 repos. Maybe I'm looking for the wrong package name, or it is just not there.

Kdevelop3 is in my ch.archive.ubuntu.com/universe repo.

These are old versions. Actual ones are packaged as kdevelop, but version is 3.4.0 (KDE 3.5.6), not 3.4.1 (KDE 3.5.7).

At least I didn't do anything wrong

But what to do next? Report it to someone responsible for the Kubuntu package or just wait or install it another way?

I believe that it was closed .

No Kdevelop 3.4.1 in the official kubuntu release of KDE 3.5.7

You can always go to:

http://www.kdevelop.org/index.html?f.../download.html

And download a deb from there.
