    easy fix for konqueror

    Hi all,

after installing Feisty on a blank laptop, konqueror would not browse the web, where as all other net applications worked.

after struggling for a few days i found an easy fix.

1)fire up Synaptic package manager (this may work in Adept but i cant break it again to try it)

    2)search for konqueror.

3)right click and choose 'mark for re-installation'

    4)click apply button.

    5)sit back and watch....

    hope this helps,

    derek

      good news, it's not broken

i had a failure installing java and this messed things up

      typing
      dpkg --configure -a

      fixed everything up.

        Re: easy fix for konqueror

        more news...
in an attempt to fix a few flakey thing in feisty, i installed KDE 3.5.7.

this went on quite smoothly but guess what ... konqueror broke again.

this time i had to dissable the web cache to get it working again.

one interesting thing to observe is that while it is broken it will complain that it cant reach a site but the logo in the address bar will display after a few seconds.

for example if you goto ebay.com.au for the first time konqueror wont download the page but the ebay logo will pop up in the address bar so it must be making a connection.

cheers, and lets hope for a real fix soon
