    sounds cuts out

    Hi there,

I'm having big problems with sounds cutting out. I only use my box as a fileserver and for running Freevo, so I'm not certain whether this is happening only when playing videos through Freevo or not.

I have onboard sound provided by the VIA VT8237RP chipset. I haven't installed any other drivers for it, I'm using those provided out of the box. I've upgraded my kernel to 2.6.21.1, however I used to have exactly the same issue with Edgy out of the box, so I don't think it's a kernel issue.

Freevo is configured to use the audio device /dev/dsp, and the audo mixer device /dev/mixer - does this sound correct?

MPlayer is being used for video playback.

Apart from disabling the option in the KDE Sound System section to give up OS control of the sound system after 60 seconds, everything is set to the default.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jon

    Re: sounds cuts out

Actually, I did play an entire 25 minute video file in KPlayer with no sounds issues.
