Apps won't start on first click

    Hi there,

I find that when I click on the task bar icon to start an app some times it won't start in the first try, the second will, there is response to the click the icon became bigger and then shrink back, so the system is responding to my command, but the app just won't start until next try, I don't have this problem with previous version so this is new, and I already upgraded the KDE to 3.5.6 and it fixes some other problem but not this one.
Do you Yahoo ? No I hiccup only :P

Just to be clear, when you say it is starting on the second click do you mean:
    a) it opens when you double click
    b) it opens the second time you try to single click it (presumably with some time lapse in the middle)
I get the impression you mean b but I'm unsure

Re: Apps won't start on first click

I didn't double click, I click the 2nd time after 10 seconds or so the first click doesn't bring out the application, and there is no launch feedback in the first click, so I know the system is not processing my request.

I also have this problem, and it is driving me crazy. I specifically notice it with Adept, which I nearly always have to launch twice. It does randomly affect other apps as well though.

        Any suggestions welcomed.

I notice it only with Firefox, but that's because of a segmentation fault I get as a result of monkeying. I should probably fix it one of these days.

Try and reproduce the behavior with console output, by launching an application from a console (e.g. open Konsole and execute "kate").
If this doesn't reproduce it, open Konsole and execute "killall kicker" (this will remove the panel). Then, still in Konsole, execute "kicker" (launch the panel again), then open/close applications until this behavior occurs. See if any errors are printed, either by the app or by Kicker.
          For external use only.

I can't reproduce the problem with kicker on/off, it just happens randomly, and it is not related to root access I know the difference, there is no launch feedback just the icon expands and shrink back after I click on it.
