I don't have window borders and i didn't find anything helpful googleing.
Tried the Nvidia stuff, but that didn't work.

    Re: Beryl and Intel i945GM

i had an i810 and had to use AIGLX (no XGL or other such crap).
i810 and i945 used to share the same driver.
now i don't know, 'cause i've had an nvidia for quite a while.
installation and configuration was pretty straight forward.
    add beryl repository to /etc/apt/sources.list.
install beryl and emerald as per k/ubuntu beryl wiki.
reconfigure the X server to have glx loaded (sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg).
restart the X server and log back into kde.
open up a konsole and start the beryl manager (beryl-manager).
right click on the ruby icon and pick the beryl window manager.

      Re: Beryl and Intel i945GM

Here is the Device section of my xorg.conf file. My graphics for this machine is an i915GM. Beryl as far as I'm concerned works great! You mentioned NVIDIA stuff but your help title says i945, which is it? If it is i945, I suggest removing the NVIDIA stuff and then reconfiguring X as stated by jankushka.

      Code:
      Section "Device"
Identifier	"Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller"
      	Driver "i810"
      	BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
      	Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" "true"
      EndSection

I removed immidiately the nvidia line. My Section Device looks almost the same:
        Code:
        Section "Device"
Identifier	"Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller"
        	Driver "i810"

        EndSection

              Re: Beryl and Intel i945GM

The only time I got it to start by command line was actually going to konsole, but I wouldn't do that but only if you need to trouble shoot. I start Beryl through Beryl-Manager with no problems. Glad to hear you are back up and running.
