CTRL + w Kate bug?

Hi,

When I have multiple files open in Kate (using tab plug-in) and close some files with CTRL + w Kate will crash sometimes. Is this known to somebody else, or is it just me?

I just tried what you described and it worked fine. No crashes. What kind of files did you open?

Hi, It does not happen after only a few hours of work...

It happens after I have worked a whole day 10 hours + or at random times. I open files with the following extensions:

.txt, .mod (model files for glpk), .dat(data files for glpk models), .php, .css, and .c

That's about it.

Ooooh and the files are opened from local and external locations (sftp, ftp).

Maybe it's just some evil apps I am running... like Skype, Opera, Gaim (AKA Pidgin).

Perhaps it could be some weird bug. I know that Firefox, for example, becomes prone to crashes if your sessions are very long.

It could be nice if the stability level of this system could get better.. maybe the priority for developing new functions is greater than the stability issue.. I thought stability was what Kubuntu was aiming for?

No. Kubuntu is aiming for some kind of middle ground.

Debian is probably the distro to go if stability is your main concern.

Okay.. that's too bad

Everything is so much easier in Kubuntu.. I don't think I will return to Debian ever.. My servers run Debian though...

No. It's just an election.

New stuff is sometimes very useful, but it has some cost.

BTW, I'm actually holding the update of my work computer to feisty because the python version shipped with it (python 2.5.1rc1) scares me .

Okay, I get your point. But....., I think it is a bit of a high cost when upgrading from Edgy to Feisty and you find out that Kate doesn't behave properly...

I would like to add that the "bug" only seems to happen, when I am working on a file through sftp. Anyone else having similar problems?

Hmm, I have found that this bug only happens when closing tabs in Kate. I have been using Kate without tabs (pretty annoying) for a while now, and now Kate never crashes.

The tab bug is present in KDE 3.5.7 also.

Heroes of KDE please fix the tab issue ;-)
