    Dutch language

    Hi everyone,

I have for some reason an English version of Kubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn (while I selected Dutch during installation). How could I add Dutch language packages and make them the default language for Kubuntu? Thank you very much in advance.

    Re: Dutch language

    1) Install package kde-i18n-nl
    2) In System Settings --> Regional & Language --> select your language
    3) Restart KDE
    4) Remove English language package, if you want.

      Re: Dutch language

Thanks for your kind help, Skydancer. However, my other computer doesn't have internet access (yet), so where could I download language packages for KDE/Kubuntu to manually install them?

Maybe you could help me out to configure my Airport Extreme card to work with my access point? Tthe other Dell notebook had problems connecting to the Internet as well, but that is now solved. I have tried doing the same things that made my Dell notebook connect to the Internet, but with to no avail.

See this thread for details: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3082725

Again, thank you so much for your help!

You could use this command: sudo apt-get -d install kde-i18n-nl
It will only download the package. You can find it in /var/cache/apt/archive directory. Put that package in the same directory in you other PC and install in with package manager, or install it manually with sudo dpkg -i kde-i18n-nl command. Another option would be to manually download it from here

I can't help you with your network card problem. I have a PC with a regular ADSL connection and modem which doesn't require an expert to configure it. Sorry!

Thank you very much for your kind help

On my PC notebook I now have Dutch as the main language, so it worked. However, on my Apple Macintosh, when I downloaded and installed the package using the Kubuntu Package Menu (right click on package), it installed the package but I got an error.

Fortunately (I think) Dutch is listed by the system preferenes as a language I can add (which wasn't the case earlier). Is it safe to select Dutch and then reboot to get a Dutch Kubuntu system? Again, thank you in advance for your response.
