Convert to ODT format

Hi everyone,

I wish to convert all my word files to ODT format (and other Office files, such as PowerPoint and Excel). On a site I read this is possible with a wizard in OpenOffice.org 2.2, but it (the document convertor) doesn't work. I get some kind of strange warning message about a syntax error. How can I solve this problem in such a way that I can batch convert a large number of documents?
