    Kernel Header 2.6.20-15 issue resolved

    I have kind of a funny problem.

    Two weeks ago or so, when i was running feisty as the beta version, i installed the -15 kernel header, and rebooted like normal. When i chose the -15 header in GRUB, however, when it went to build the necessary stuff to run that version, something crashed and burned, and the kernel wouldn't work. I then left the country for a couple weeks and didn't bother to try and fix it. Now,I'm back and I can't get that version to run at all, it boots OK, but then seems to get stuck, and I really don't understand the problem I'm having.

    The odd thing is though, i can get into the recovery console for that kernel version.

    I've tried to remove the header with adept, and reinstall it, but nothing I've tried seems to work.

    Is there a way to reinstall or even roll back feisty to the point before this kernel header was installed? The -14 kernel header works fine, so its not particularly pressing, but I'd like to get it fixed all the same.

    I would appreciate any suggestion anyone has, please.

    Many thanks

    Hmm - If you want to install older kernel (linux-image-2.6.20-14). Remove newer and install older. Is there some problem ?

    What tells ?
    Code:
    :~$ sudo apt-get -s install linux-image-2.6.20-14-generic
    -s, --simulate, --just-print, --dry-run, --recon, --no-act
    No action; perform a simulation of events that would occur but do
    not actually change the system. Configuration Item:
    APT::Get::Simulate.

    Are you using generic ?
    Before you edit, BACKUP !

      Ok, i fixed my problem. The issue wasn't with the kernel, i hadn't installed the restricted modules for it yet, and i run an Nvidia card. I thought that i did so before i left, but apparently not.

      Thanks for your help
