How does one enable 3D effect once Compiz is installed

    Hi,

I installed Compiz with Apt-Get but do not know how to turn it on. Can anyone provide a roadmap?

    Thanks,
    Rich

Try opening the terminal and typing in compiz

      Unholey Moley,

Thanks but then I get the following...

      /usr/bin/compiz.real: No composite extension
      /usr/bin/compiz 47: metacity: not found

Open up the terminal and type in
        glxinfo
and copy/paste the info here. Then open up /etc/X11/xorg.conf (case matters) and paste the contents here.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem. Here's what I have:

          ctt1wbw@WaynesWorld:~$ glxinfo | grep direct
          direct rendering: Yes
          ctt1wbw@WaynesWorld:~$ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf

          # /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
          #
          # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
          # values from the debconf database.
          #
          # Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.
          # (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
          #
          # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
          # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
          # package.
          #
          # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
          # again, run the following command:
          # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
