Following an upgrade to feisty, I installed the vmplayer and kernel packages from the repos. I am now having networking trouble. I had to manually modprobe vmmon and vmnet, and run vmnet-bridge to get a bridged network configuration. On the guest OS, I can browse the internet OK, but I cannot access the host OS over the network. The host IP is 192.168.2.2, and the guest OS is 192.168.2.10. So, while I can access the Internet from the guest, I cannot connect to the host's webserver, or SMB/NFS network. What could be the problem?

Re: vmware & networking following upgrade
I had a similar problem.
Mayba this can help, enlighten a bit:

samba 3.0.24 on feisty is broken
I don't know if it alpies to your problem but I hope it helps.
It helped me to a point but I still don't get rw access to my shares, only read and I don't know why.
EDIT: I solved that with unmounting the shares, rebooting, remounting the shares with rw access and rebooting.
I have got no idea why this has to be done...
Cheers
