unmet dependencies

ok im having some trouble with repositories and install stuff.
I tried sudo apt-get install gimp and i get unmet dependencies error. same thing when i try sudo apt-get install vlc.

anybody know whats wrong?

May sound silly, but did you do an apt-get update prior to any installation attempt?
