I just switched over to feisty 64 bit from a 64 bit gentoo distro, on gentoo I was easily able to use the 32 bit flash plugin within 64 bit firefox using ndiswrapper. And yes I am somewhat of a noob. all u had to do in gentoo to do this was run a command "emerge mozilla-firefox ndiswrapper flashplayer-plugin" and presto u had 32 bit flash in your 64 bit browser (in gentoo the 32 bit firefox was mozilla-firefox-bin) unfortunately gentoo has to many bugs and is too hard to figure out some problems for a noob like myself, hence the switch. In feisty the only ndiswrapper info I can find refers to wireless ethernet drivers. Can someone tell me how (if at all) I can accomplish this in feisty/debian. Thanks in advance for the help...

Re: Feisty 64 + firefox 64 + flash 32 + ndiswrapper
OK take it easy.
First download the 32 bit version of the flashplayer from
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get...9_linux.tar.gz
extract the archive and put the flash~.so file in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
Unfortunately there is no nspluginwrapper in the Adept repository therefore you have to install it yourself from an rpm.
First:
Install package "alien" in Adept. then close adept, you are done with it.
go to:
http://gwenole.beauchesne.info/proje...per/#downloads
download both the viewer and the plugin of nspluginwrapper 0.9.91.4. to your home directory
They will be in rpm format and you have to convert them to *.deb with alien. Open your home dir with konqueror and right click and choose "Actions>Open terminal here"
It will open a terminal window: type:
sudo alien --scripts nspluginwrapper-0.9.91.4-1.x86_64.rpm
enter password and if you get no errors you are in luck.
Then do the same for the viewer.
After this all you have to do is to right click on the resulting .deb file and choose "kubuntu package menu>install package enter password and you're done. nspluginwrapper should see the flash plugin in the /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins directory and install it automatically.
after this open Konqueror and in the settings menu >configure Konqueror>plugins and choose scan for plugins. In the plugins tab you should see the ns-wrapper with flash plugin. I don't use Firefox but I assume it should work as well.
Report back if you run into trouble.
There is an attempt to describe this procedure here in the wiki:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/32bitBrowserOnAmd64
We should probably write a better one.

Re: Feisty 64 + firefox 64 + flash 32 + ndiswrapper
I think I did everything that you posted..
I downloaded FlashPackege. Extracted all its files to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
Them downloaded those two other, put them to /home, and then created .deb file, using code you give.
Runned deb file..... it didn't looked like it installed anything at all.

Re: Feisty 64 + firefox 64 + flash 32 + ndiswrapper
It is easy to see if they got installed. Just go in Adept and see if they are there.
If not you may have done something wrong or u got some errors while running alien and did not notice them. It is very hard for me to troubleshoot from here. the procedure is correct and runs fine.
If the files appear installed in adept then you should probably follow the procedure on the nspluginwrapper site on how to install the plugin manually.
something like ns...wrapper -i "filename.so"
Have u scanned for plugins in Konqueror?
when u press the plugins tab.. nothing there?

Re: Feisty 64 + firefox 64 + flash 32 + ndiswrapper
I find that 32 is in fact faster than 64 for some reason. There are many theories here but I do myself use 32 a lot although I have a 64 AMD machine.
In what concerns skype do try a SIP provider I find them more reliable and this is the way of the future. You can try SIP with Twinkle in Linux 64 and 32 or an adapter (ATA)
I have 2 SIP accounts one in the US and other in Romania where my family is.
I bought an ATA from Grandstream and can use both accounts with my old wireless phone system. it costs pennies and it is extremely convenient since you are completely independent of the computer. Works just like the old phone system... Caller ID and all.
I got rid of the ATT account and I am a free man! Best invention ever. I forgot Skype...

Re: Feisty 64 + firefox 64 + flash 32 + ndiswrapper
Ok so I finally got around to doing this on my system, I was trying to deal with beryl problems first. Anyway, when I install nspluginwrapper I see it searching for plugins but nothing is found even though I extracted the flash plugin into my plugins folder. When I follow the instructions from the nsplugin site I get an error that the file is not a valid NPAPI plugin? Anyone know what this means?

Re: Feisty 64 + firefox 64 + flash 32 + ndiswrapper
Nice try Kubuntu folks. 8)
For next release I suggest you get beryl, ati/nvidia, and flash working out of the box for both amd64 and 32 bit systems. It was a complete waste of my whole weekend fighting with Fiesty to no avail following all the posted guides google could provide for 64 bit flash in buntu. Sabayon, Mint, PCLos, Mandriva, SimplyMepis... etc, etc. one does not have to waste time configuring these simple things that the Buntu's are still trying to figure out. So close yet so far away. Some day soon you might get there, but others are far ahead of the curve.
