module monitor & display could not be loaded

I have installed ubuntu feisty today (clean) and installed the kubuntu-desktop package after I have had some fun with beryl.
I started KDE and wanted to change my resolution, when I started the system settings and went to monitor & display it gave me the error:

"the module monitor & display could not be loaded"

What I have tried:
Changed the NoDisplay=true to read NoDiplay=0 in /usr/share/applications/kde/display.desktop
and reinstalled kde-guidance-powermanager and kde-guidance .

I have edited my xorg.conf to have a higher resolution than 1024. When I changed my xorg.conf back to default, the monitor & display module does work.

So how can I get my resolution over 1024? I cant choose that in monitor & display.

Re: module monitor & display could not be loaded

Offcourse I have searched, cause the things I already tried (modifiing xorg.conf, reinstalling guidance, editing display.desktop) I dindn't thought of myself!

Could you at least give me the topic number or the right search terms?

edit:
sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg seems to do the trick
