Trying to test the new upgrade tool

I have a system I experiment with. So since they asked for people to try the new upgrade tool to upgrade my Edgy system to Feisty. So I read the wiki and tried to update the repositories with the repositories noted in the wiki. Trouble is that Adept and even Synaptic keeps giving me errors telling me that those repositories are not valid, parse errors, etc.

Anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

Sure, I entered both of these per the Kubuntu website.

In Adept Manager go to Manage Repositories and enable edgy-proposed:
deb [WWW] http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ edgy-proposed main

or if you have KDE 3.5.6 Edgy packages installed add this one for i386:
deb [WWW] http://kubuntu.org/~jriddell/tmp/arc...e-kde356-i386/ ./

Neither of these work and give me errors in Adept and Synaptic

Do you have KDE 3.5.6. on Edgy? Could you please post the contents of your /etc/apt/sources.list file?

No, I have 3.5.5. Though I had 3.5.6 So now I only tried the first repository given and still getting error. Won't even download and install all the other upgrades presented now.

1. You have so many duplicate repositories. Probably not essential, but would be good to clean those up.
2. You might want to disable the automatix.com repository
3. If you are using KDE 3.5.6 right now, use the one for KDE 3.5.6. I don't understand what you mean by "had 3.5.6" though... but if you're on KDE 3.5.5, use the repo for KDE 3.5.5 (edgy-proposed).

O.K., I took your suggestion and cleaned up the duplicates and commented out Automatix. The update tool is now working and it is about 75% through the download which is going very slowly - and I have a very fast connection. So, when it is finished I will report how it went and if my wireless card is still working as it did not work when I tried running the live 7.04 CD.

Worked fine. Just two issues for me. My TrendNet Wireless card worked without any effort on 6.10, but is not even detected in 7.04. That's a major bummer. Seems like everytime you use a new version of Linux, requires another purchase of a wireless card. Tried ndiswrapper, and it still cannot see the card. Big bummer.

Had to uninstall and reinstall GAIM and it went freaky when started with the window just growing across the screen. Seems to work fine after the reinstall.

My NVU is gone! What do you folks use for webpage development (wysiwyg)?
