Hi folks,
Got a late model year 2005 G5 (iMac) then you have suffered installing Kubuntu Breezy Final and loading the KDE Desktop your wired USB Mouse & Keyboard have FROZEN UP !!
Ok.... here is how you get to the KDE Desktop with Breezy.
1.) Boot up to the GUI Login prompt.
2.) type in your username (if it isn't already showing)
3.) Type in your password (not root password)
4.) Click on the bottom left hand side button with your mouse
5.) Choose Failsafe
6.) Click on the right hand sidebottom Login button.
7.) Wait........ sooner or later Kconsole will appear
8.) Type su at the prompt
9.) Supply your root password.
10.) At the prompt type
mv /usr/bin/artsd /usr/bin/bakartsd
11.) Press the return / enter key after the "d" in bakartsd (the end of the line you typed in above.
12.) Go to the top left hand menu choice in the console and choose quit / exit
13.) Wait ....... sooner or later the GUI Login prompt should return
14.) Enter your password again
15.) Click on left hand lower button again
16.) This time choose KDE
17.) Choose the right hand login button
ENJOY........
artsd is the aRts KDE Desktop Sound Dameon it screws these G5 iMacs being able to boot to the Breezy and Dapper Drake Desktop.

ps. it's similar to get suse10 final to boot as well (don't install gnome also - as it has esound as it's Gnome Desktop Sound daemon) Otherwise you will have artsd & esd (esound) to disable.
