How do I change the processor speed on my laptop it is a 1600 and Fiesty only sees it at the lowest speed 800. CMOS sees it at 1600 and fiesty sees it at 800 makes a very slow computer. Thanks in advance. Other friends who I have introduced to Kubuntu have the same problem, this may be a bug??

Re: changing Processor speed
Hi,
If it's a speed step processor, it can be normal, you can set the cpu policy with the powermanager, right click on it and you should see :
- performance
- powersave
- dynamic
Set it to performance to get it always to max...
Hope it helps

Re: changing Processor speed
After some research on the web (several hours), it turns out that powernowd provides automatic stepping for cpu's that use stepping. So there really is no need to bother with it. But if you are so inclined you can change it by using powernowd from command line. Link to more info http://www.deater.net/john/powernowd.html.
Thanks
