D-Link DWL-520 wont work

I have tried madwifi and ndiswrapper and cannot get this card to work. I believe it is rev.A
In ndiswrapper I have got as far as getting the correct windows driver installed and its says device present in the prompt but does not say "device present, hardware present" like the how-to explains. I did get something in the menu for windows wireless options but it doesnot do anything when clicked.

What can I do to get this thing to finally connect

Are you certain about the correct drivers being used? Dlink's website gives you 2 options and teaches you how to check for the correct rev number.
