I bought a switch from a friend and I require some help with certain aspects of it. First off, it works with my modem, however certain problems arise if I pull out the ethernet cable from modem to router and reattach it. It then assigns me a "out of thin air IP*

I can correct this by rebooting my box and router and modem, however thats not really a solution. I also dont know how to get into the switch to configure it, this is my first cisco switch. Model is 2924 xl en 24 port. Any help is appreciated.
Nvm got a console cable and followed the cisco release notes, reset password and all is good now.
