Hello all,
I know this is not a Kubuntu problem but I'm at a loss and I usually get good tips and I was hoping to get one again.
I have a home network with a router and a hub connected to it.
Port 1 in router is connected to a windows PC
Port 2 in router is connected to a 16 port hub with 6 active connections
(4 kubuntu, 1 Mac, 1 windows)
Windows one Port 1 has internet and email working properly
1 Mac and 1 Kubuntu computers on hub connected to Port 2 has internet but no email*
(the rest of the computers in the hub don't need email)
*by email, I mean one using an email program (Kontact, eudora, etc ) and not like gmail/hotmail/yahoo emails accessed through a browser.
The email programs are set up properly. The problem only started when my DSL modem was replaced by the DSL company.
Before I had a USB DSL modem which I attached to the windows machine to share internet, now that they replaced it with a router DSL. email connection doesnt work.
Since its a hub (and not a switch) there are multiple collisions and internet access to those connected to the hub is slower than the one connected directly to the router. Thats OK but I just dont get why I wouldn't get any email connection.
Any ideas?
Thanks for any advice
