I can't get KPPP to detect my external modem which is on COM 1 (/dev/ttyS0). I can get wvdial to dial out so I know the modem is correctly configured and can connect to an ISP but I can't get KPPP to connect to anything (even get a dial tone)!
What's bothering me at present is that the modem does not appear as a network device under Network settings. I know that under Ubuntu this appears and I'm damm sure that this should appear under Kubuntu, but it doesn't, just my NIC. I've looked to see if there was anything under the K menu System Settings (which I absolutely hate because it does not work properly under any version of Kubuntu since 5.10) and I have looked under KControl (which works really well).
Anyone got any ideas why the modem is not showing under networking? I figure if I can get this working KPPP will work.
Thanks
