    how to start networkmanager

My networkmanager died when I tried to start a VPN connection.

Now, after logging out and back in it still appears from knetworkmanager to not be running. However, my wifi is working great (typing this).

How can I tell if networkmanager is running and start it if not running?

Is this perhaps just a knetworkmanager issue misreporting the networkmanager status?

    Re: how to start networkmanager

well as irony would have it, I looked for hours for an answer and then stumbled across it minutes after posting this.

    Here is the solution:

I need to get used to how Ubuntu handles services. I expected NetworkManager to have a RC script under /etc/init.d/ and the rc* dirs.

In previous distros I have used, NetworkManager could be restarted by running /etc/init.d/network restart
