I've tried two different Atheros chipset PCI cards on Feisty, a Trendnet 503pi and a D-Link G520. Ubuntu 7.04 recognized both cards, but with each device the wifi signal strength will not rise above 20-40% , rendering the wireless connection unusable.
I thought it might be the antenna location, even though the router is less than 15 feet away, but waltzing with the PC around the room had no significant effect on the signal strength.
My laptop, running XP and an Intel adapter, receives a strong wireless signal in the same location as the PC.
I'm left wondering if I should try yet another different adapter. Or does Ubuntu have issues with wireless signal strength?
Thanks for any input.
