Hello,
I have a small home network of 4 computers, 3 of which run WinXP and one runs Kubuntu 7.04.
After following this guide:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...ee%20r-to-peer
I was able at last to see the files on my Linux box from a Windows PC. The process is a little complex and "unconvenient" though. I have to add to the linux box the usernames of the users of the other computers; then I need to add the shared folders to the smb.conf file; then I need to manually "mount" the folders in the Windows pc, mapping them to network drives. Is there a way to just "plop" my linux box in the workgroup, and have each computer see each other, and access the shared folders - the way it's done with Windows? I would like, from within Windows, to just open "Network resources" - or whatever it's called in English - and find all the shared folders in all the running computers... Can this be done?
If I open Smb4K and click on "Scan Network" it finds nothing, the "Network Browser" window is empty.
Thanks
Cristian
