i was about to call for your help, 'cause this thing is driving me nuts.
i wanted to go through all the basic stuff, first.
it took a while.

so, damage...
we finally identified your card as a pcmcia card.
that fact that your problem is random doesn't help
your drivers seem to be the correct drivers.
you have the stuff for wpa support installed alright.

go through the DCOPserver page linked by unicornrider.
see if you find anything that helps in there.
if you're not sure what to do/try, ask again here...

Thanks for the link...

I tried to install DWL-G650+ wireless card and driver (using ndiswrapper) as well and now my knetworkmanager doesn't even show options to connect to wireless (eth1 and wlan0)...

I think I'll try to reinstall "Kubuntu Fiesty" and let you know if it works then...
