    Can't browse my local network

I used to be able to see shared folders on my brother's Windows pc, but now when i try to browse samba shares from konqueror, i get a message saying that no computers were found on the network, and that it might be a firewall problem-

However, there are no firewalls involved, and i can use see the other computer if i boot to wndows with no problems...

I think the problem might have been something when i installed smb server, and it messing with my netwok configuration.

If you have not done so already, you should review the information concerning Samba and getting it set up at:

    http://us1.samba.org/samba/

In M$ Windows, the accessability between connected PC's of same/compatible OS's is, or almost, 'native' in nature. Not so with Linux to M$ PC's. Samba; either the server or client, needs to be set up correctly to have a useable connection to a M$ connected PC.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

While Samba's client software is required for browsing remote shares, the server part is only necessary to make local file systems available to remote users ... therefore, unless needed, you should not tinker with smbd (& nmbd)
