Wireless card recognized but does not connect

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-N220E that i just installed Kubuntu on to. It recognizes the wireless card but will not connect to my wireless router. The router is a Linksys with DD-WRT running on it. I am a Linux newbie and do not understand much of the lingo so you will have to help me out in the most lament of terms. Any information on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

What happens when you open up a Konsole and type ifconfig or iwconfig?

Re: Wireless card recognized but does not connect

I'm having the same problem with a generic desktop AMD-64, feisty, D-Link DWL-G510+ ver 2 (Atheros) and Westell 327W DSL gateway. Since I got the driver to install correctly kwifimanager recognizes the NIC but shows 0 signal strength even though it detects my network and usually one or two others.

ifconfig shows ath0 with no packets, also ath0:avah, eth0, lo, and wifi0 26789 packets, no errors.
iwconfig shows wifi0 link qual 0/94, signal -92db, noise -92db, sensitivity 0/3, Rx invalid nwid 26753.

I have the same 128-bit key in the computer and the gateway.
