Cannot Enable Linksys G Notebook adapter

Hello,

I have an old HP Notebook and Kubuntu is not identifying the integrated Wireless card so I wanted to use my Linksys Wireless G Notebook adapter. When I put it in and try to enable it in Network Settings it just disables itselft again.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Just a stab, but you are trying to do this as root right?
