Please help if u can.
How do I get rid of Adept? I am using Kubuntu Feisty but have never rated Adept so have Synaptic for an app install GUI. Adept works reasonably well I suppose. I used it to upgrade from Edgy and all went well. The bit that drives me insane is 'Adept Notifier'. Basically, this piece of software just will not leave me alone. Even when there are no updates, it keeps hogging my system resources. I have had to utilise the 'Runaway Process Catcher' in order to give my system some room to breathe. Even when I tell 'Runaway Proc Catch' to 'STOP' Adept Notifier, it only stays stopped for a short while. After an hours uptime, my processor fan is screaming because of Adept wanting all the resources for itself. I am pretty certain that Adept Notifier is the cause of these woes because it stops after I 'sudo apt-get update' in bash or the equivalent in Synaptic.
I just want Adept gone. I can live with Synaptic and 'apt' alone. If I attempt to remove adept with Synaptic or Apt, I get a huge list of dependencies () which will also be removed and which would in turn render my OS useless.
Anyone solved such a dilemma? I have had a sniff about here, at Ubuntu forums, and with Google to no avail. Please help me out if you can.
Big thanx in advance
PS- Aside from this relatively minor annoyance, Kubuntu outperforms XP in every department. I am a very happy customer.
