    Ralink turbo wireless lan

So this is the 2nd wireless pci cars i try.First didn't work no matter what I did.
This one is recognized when I boot the live cd but it can't see my wireless network.
When I input my network's name it says configure and get stuck at 28%.
    I'm using Kubuntu 7.04

What kind of security is being used on the wireless router? WEP, WPA? Any of those using a PSK? If so is it HEX or ASCII?

The network doesn't have any security.
And the network doesn't appear when I use KNetworkManager.

Hmmmm. Then that surely is odd indeed because many routers around me that don't have security always hook really quickly. What does Network Settings under System Settings say about the wireless? Is it enabled?

Yes it's enabled. It's really weird. And from all my windows boxes no problem, they all see it.

I have had the same problems with a card using the Ralink RT2500 chipset.
Solution:- go and get the source for the latest version of the driver from the "serialmonkey" repository. Build and install. Go and get Rtutil which is a Wlan manager, Remove Netmanager using APT . Build and install Rtutil. You should now be able to get netwroking going using Iwconfig / Rtutil.

Wireless network now works BUT it does not come out of suspend as cleanly as Dapper, need to do ifdown ra0 ifup ra0 as root after suspend.

All of the forgoing may not be required it maybe that Rtutil will work with the Rtxx00 module supplied with the distro.
It appears to me is that what happens in many cases is that the network side gets set up correctly but the card doesn't get set up switched on Rtutil will take care of that bit.
