    wireless connection keeps failing

I have a laptop that had a clean install of Ubuntu Feisty on it, then KDE was added via Synaptic. The connection seems to quit working after the computer sits idle for any length of time. It is a Broadcom card. After I lose the connection Knetworkmanager won't see the networks anymore and I have a really hard time getting the device to be recognized again. Some times the only thing that seems to work is reboot. Has any one else seen or heard of this problem? Any outputs I can post to help? Any ideas on where to look for help? I searched the forums and could not find anything.
Also I have another computer with a clean install of Kubuntu and I do not have this issue, is there a way to "upgrade" the above computer so that it is a Kubuntu system? I don't need Gnome any longer (like KDE best). Thank you in advance for any help!

    Re: wireless connection keeps failing

I have this on my laptop as well (DLink DWL-AG660) and even if it actually sees the networks, it has a hard time connecting to it.
This started on a "upgraded" Ubuntu to Kubuntu 7.04 and despite rebooting several times it didn't find the wireless. After reinstalling Kubuntu (deleting Ubuntu) I have the problem the OP sees.

    Also greatful for a solution.

      Re: wireless connection keeps failing

Update: Last night I searched synaptic for "KDE" and found a "metapackage" of core files the listing was simply "kde" on the list after I searched for KDE. I installed that (200+ packages) and that seems to have fixed it. Missing files somewhere? Not sure but after installing that some 12 hours ago it is still on line. Time will tell.
