    Seagate Mirra file server

I've just gotten a Seagate Mirra file server / backup unit, which has software only for Windows and Mac even though (rumor has it) it uses Linux internally. Has anyone figured out how to use this unit to back up a Linux system?

I gave up and am returning the unit

It's nice that the Mirra uses Linux internally, but that doesn't help in backing up a Linux system since as the referenced video indicates, there's no way to get at the internal Linux system. I'm surprised that Seagate would use Linux internally but not support it externally. The FAQ for the Mirra indicates that you can't even use Samba as a workaround.

In any event I decided to return the unit and get an HP Media Vault instead. (And write off the restocking fee and return shipping.)
