I have an ralink 2573 usb wireless unit, it is seen by the wlassistant and sees all wireless connections. The problem is that the link quality stars are greyed out and it says connection failed. Clinking on the router connection says connecting but nothing happens The lights flash on the unit when booting, iwconfig sees it, lsusb see it, but no connection to any router, this maybe a bug. This unit has worked on Dapper. Thanks

Re: wireless network connection problem
I think I'm having a very similar problem. First.. here is my setup.
Hughes Sat. Internet ---> Sat Modem -----> Pc and linksys wireless router / hub ---> (wireless) to Netopia 3d reach wireless USB adapter (think it uses some version of ralink drivers) ----> Laptop (this is what I want to connect).
I plug in my usb adapter to the laptop with kubuntu 7.04 up and running. it sees the usb adapter and the lights blink and turn green on the adapter. I look in the network manager window (from the right end of the taskbar) and it shows my linksys wireless access point in the list. there is only one little bar beside it...(signal strength? can't be .. i'm just in the same room). If I connect ethernet it works fine. I just can't get to the internet wirelessly. It seems like it can see the wireless router and is connected to it, but for some reason can't get data in or out. I don't believe I have security on the router.. I think it is just unlocked for anyone to piggy-back on.
Can someone tell me how I can get the wireless connection fully working?
Thanks,
kennethmsmith

Re: wireless network connection problem
I found that removing knetworkmanager and installing wlassistant made my wireless connection usable. I just have to manually start the wireless connection each time i start kubuntu or change users.
i guess i'll try knetworkmanager sometime again in the future once an update has been issued.
