Network Setup

Hi, I am new in Linux. I have installed Kubuntu 7.04. But I can not setup my network connection. My lan card is builtin. My mother board is Intel DG965RY. It found my lan card. Actually I can not configure it. One of my friend tell me to use some command from the terminal. But after using that it shows me, I have no permission. Now what can I do. Can anybody please help me? I am waiting for replies and solves
