Wireless card not recognized after upgrade

My TrendNet Wireless card TEW-228PI worked without any effort on 6.10, but is not even detected in 7.04. That's a major bummer. Seems like everytime you use a new version of Linux, requires another purchase of a wireless card. Tried ndiswrapper, and it still cannot see the card. Shoot, Kubuntu does not see the card, so I would not really expect ndiswrapper to be any help. Big bummer. Any suggestions?

    In case anyone asks:

    eth0 no wireless extensions.

Re: Wireless card not recognized after upgrade

      can you supply output of
      Code:
      dmesg
      and
      Code:
      lspci -vv
      ?
That said, if your card worked with no problem under 6.10, then it certainly can work under 7.04. Did you update to 7.04 beta and got all the updates and reboot the machine? If so, is the problem still present?

Seems like everytime you use a new version of Linux, requires another purchase of a wireless card.
I don't agree. The problem is that because some hardware makers do not provide drivers and/or specs of their chipsets, it's hard to get them working under linux sometimes.
That said, some chipsets are known to work well with Linux: Atheros (native drivers), Prism, Ralink, Intel (they provide drivers).

Re: Wireless card not recognized after upgrade

I am having the same problem as duffy.

I did an upgrade from 6.10 to 7.04 using the distribution upgrade tool and lost connectivity.

The Broadcom wireless card doesn't show under network settings, and when running wireless lan manager it says no wireless devices present.

Ndiswrapper says broadcomm bcmwlf5.inf driver is installed, but no hardware present.

I get the same output from ifconfig, and iwcofig except my wired connection is labeled eth1

Here is my dmesg file sinczar@localhost2:~$ dmesg

Re: Wireless card not recognized after upgrade

The balance of the dmesg file is rather repetitious.

I will send it if needed.

              Thanks for your help.
