hi every body , problem with grub on mbr

i don speak english very well but ill try do it!!!

look i wanna have win xp with kubuntu but the grub dosnt let me loggin xp , the grub show me a box , and show me 3 words , just ubuntu , and nothing about win xp , what can i do? i dont know , i have to use the super grub cd but i don like to be using the software ,,,, please helpme !!!

So you can boot to XP with the CD? (just checking that the XP installation is still there)

Kubuntu should have picked up the XP installation automagically and added that into your grub menu...since it seems that didn't happen, you might wish to try to add it yourself.

The file to edit is '/boot/grub/menu.lst'. Make a backup of the file before editing, just in case.

Open for editing with:

kdesu kate /boot/grub/menu.lst

The entry you should add should be something like:

title Windows XP
root (hd0,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1

the (hd0,0) part depends on where your XP is installed, 'hd0,0' is first disk, first partition.

You should put the entry above
### BEGIN AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST
if you wish XP to appear first on the grub list

and below
### END DEBIAN AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST
if you wish it to be last
