Lazy Updater

I was unable to find the 6.10 forum so I thought posting it here would work. Though, I think the fact that I can't find the 6.10 forum points out why these errors are occuring.

Hi, I am still using 6.10 and am trying to update to 7.04 using adept.
The first set of errors I receive occur when I use fetch updates and then try to install 7.04.

The second error occurs when I try to do a full update using adept, adept just crashes.

I was wonder if there is a way around these problems to do an update or if I will have to do a fresh install.

I currently have a 2.8 ghz processor with 1 gb ram and over 500 gb harddrive space.

I keep getting the second error. However, adding the package they state to use if I have edgy kde 3.5.6 cause adept to shutdown
The APT Database could not be opened! This may be caused by incorrect APT configuration or some similar problem. Try running apt-setup and apt-get update in terminal and see if it helps to resolve the problem.

Did you comment out the last entry, or was that it's condition after "adding the package they state to use if I have edgy kde 3.5.6"? If the latter, uncomment it. Rerun a Fetch Updates and report back.

I commented it out when adept refused to run stating that it did not know that dep. I left it commented instead of removed so that I would know I tried that at a later date.

Okay. That makes sense.

A technique to performing a 'one version upgrade' is to simply replace (in your case) every occurrence of the word edgy with feisty in the sources.list file (make a backup copy of the file first). Then open a console shell and type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Wait for your upgrade to complete, and restart your system.

I did as you suggested, after rebooting I now get

when attempting to get adept to update feisty. I figure I just need to comment out the statements that don't work and look for the new versions online. Thanks for the help.
