    Formated over wrong partition

So I downloaded Gutsy after some time with Win XP and Feisty (both kubuntu) and went for a upgrade. Did a big no-no of not rtfm and not paying much attention to what I was doing, so I ended up formating over the entire hda, instead the intended hda2 partition...

That wouldn't be a very big issue if I wasn't required to use Win XP at work (yeah, I fubared my workstation )... I really need to recover my .pst mail file, or I believe they'll have my liver for lunch.

I recon I'm not really an expert at the *nix world, but, as an aspiring convert, I'd really love to keep 'em both installed in my machine (provided I'm not fired...).

Do any of you guys or gals know how can I restore or recover anything, since I formated everything of the nfts partition with ext3?

    Please?
Pretty please, with a cherry on top? (yeah, I'm that desperate)

    Thanks!
    JC

Short of taking the drive to 'recovery experts - the 'black glasses "spook" [gov'ment types] - that have the utilities to recover data from hard drives in almost any condition - and these people do exist - I believe you are FUBAR. :P

I would have to agree with Snowhog; I'm planning on taking some data recovery courses at my University, but that's a little too far down the road to help you with this incident; sorry :P
