I'm new to Ubuntu/Kubuntu. Have been running Ubuntu for about a month. Just installed the KDE package. My motivations are two: [1] it's my understanding that Kubuntu is a bit more flexible about configuration, [2] petty as it sounds, I hate the Ubuntu colors.
Some things that didn't change that I expected to change:
[1] during boot, everything looks Kubuntu-specific except for one rectangular screen that's a tan/orange holdover from Ubuntu; I believe it's the last screen before the desktop displays.
[2] When OpenOffice loads, the initial screen with the logo and version number displays with the Ubuntu theme.
[3] Windows do not remember their last position. The fact that GNOME won't let you do that was one of my reasons for switching to KDE. I thought I would be able to set this to my preference with KDE.
I'd appreciate any advice as to how I can change the first two, i.e., to get rid of the glaring Ubuntu theme holdovers. And please tell me there's a way I can get my applications to remember their last positions.
Thanks,
