It seems that NO LINUX DISTRIBUTION is timeless. All modern distros seem to be dependant on the internet to install
properly. Gone are the days that you can buy an install disk, or group of disks (even DVD's) and install without an internet
connection. This troubles me, since almost all distros quit supporting older versions after a couple of years. This leaves you
with a useless installation disk that will not properly install after support for that version of linux is discontinued over the internet.
Debian was the best at a complete distro with it's 2 or 3 dvd set that includes almost all of the installable packages for that
version of linux in a single version-locked package.
Is there any way to easily build a new installable distro that has my own selection of desired packages, or to build a complete
version compatible collection of packages so that future re-installation is not dependant on the internet.
