nvidia + syncmaster205bw refresh rate issue?

After going through several installs of drivers I have my Samsung Syncmaster 205BW displaying 1680*1050 resolution. However, I seem to be getting this flashing little white line on the left side of my screen. I am assuming that this is due to some referesh rate being off. If I use the Nvidia Settings program it seems to screw things up and the max res that I can get is 1600*1024.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Here is my xorg.conf file:

    # /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
    #
    # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
    # values from the debconf database.
    #
    # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf(5) manual page.
    # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
    #
    # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
    # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
    # package.
    #
    # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
    # again, run the following command:
    # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Re: nvidia + syncmaster205bw refresh rate issue?

Apparently there's nothing wrong with your xorg.conf, so I wouldn't blame the refresh right now.
There is a list of standard procedures, which are suggested by everybody:

    - Open the package manager and ask for it to reinstall the nvidia-glx package. Restart the X server after it's done.
    - You can also reinstall the linux-restricted-modules for your kernel version, since nvidia-glx depends on it.
    - If it doesn't work, try installing the latest driver with the "envy" program. There are a sh!tload of threads showing how to download and it it. Search within the forums.

Report back after you tried it.
