bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

Getting this error when trying to instal from live CD.
If I put a different HDD in the box, it will install fine, but with the HDD I want to use, the install fails just after the install options screen and 30 second count down timer appears.
So it would appear to be the HDD causing the problem...but..

If I put this HDD into a XP machine, I can see it access it and read/write to it no problem, and a windows diskcheck shows no problem with it.

So what do you guys reckon? HDD problem or what

I had the same problem while installing from a DVD,
tried the Kubuntu CD, and the problem was gone.
Yet, apart from boot sequence I didn't change any hardware...

Re: bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

If it is an IDE/PATA hdd, there are usual several BIOS settings for "mode" -- you might want to try some experiments with that.
