OK, after being less than pleased with my Vista experience, I'm back to try Linux once again. Trouble is, I can't get it to run on my HP Pavilion dv9310us. It has a dual-core AMD64 1.6ghz processor, so I've been using the 64bit downloads. I've tried running the live cd, which won't get past configuring network devices - so it won't run. I've tried the alternate install, but it appears to freeze up on partitioning a drive.
After each burn, I've verified the data on the disk, then used the Kubuntu utility to check validity of the CD. Everything seems fine. I noticed some other posts with the Pavilion. Are there some laptops that it won't install on?
As was mentioned in another post, there could be many reasons my install doesn't work. What are the steps that I need to take to provide the right information to get help solving this problem?
Follow up question; Does monodevelope work in Kubuntu since it is made for GNOME?
Thanks,
SteveJ
