    can't install kubunu

    hello,
I am trying to install Kubuntu on my HP pavilion laptop,
when I restart the PC while the Kubuntu CD is inserted, I get the options for installation...however when I click on the Install comand, i get

" a problem with the opening of tty "

and then the installation stops...what should I do?

Try burning the CD at slower speed, 4x preferred.

There are a couple of things to try:

You should run a CD integrity check and a memory test from the CD, to see if something is wrong.

You can also try some boot options:

      https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions

You should try at least : nolapic, noapic, irqpoll, noacpi. Some of then can make your system boot.

Sometimes disconeccting some USB hardware can also help.

It's really hard to help with this issue as there are too much possible causes. But, sometimes, if you hit ALT+F2 or ALT+F3, after the "a problem..." message, the system can give more information back. If you can have some more informative error messages, we can try to find the cause of the problem and find a fix.

Running the CD integrity check should be your first course of action. If the CD integrity check reports errors, you need to burn a new LiveCD from your downloaded .iso file. But before you do that (burning a new CD), ensure that the md5 checksum of the .iso file is correct. If it is not, then you have a bad download file and will have to download it again.

        So, the steps are:
        1. Verify the downloaded .iso files md5 checksum is correct. If not, download again. If correct, then
        2. Burn the LiveCD and verify it is good by running the CD integrity check. If the check reports errors, reburn or burn a new LiveCD. If the check reports no errors, then
        3. Boot into Kubuntu and check things out. See what works and what doesn't. Make notes. When you are ready, run the installation option.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
