I'm not looking to install Feisty Fawn, but I want to use the live CD (NOT DVD) to recover some files. Does the live CD come with K3B or some other DVD Authoring package? Thanks.

K3B = yes
DVD authoring stuff = no
It needs commercial libs and plugins to work, thus it is not distributed in any of Ubuntu distros. -

Why do you need dvd authoring if you just want to recover files? If you have one cd/dvd reader and one cd/dvd r/w then you should be able to "recover" your files o a data dvd with K3B.HP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)
