KUbuntu installation apparently broke my USB hard drive

    Hi,
I installed KUbuntu yesterday with my USB HD connected to the PC (to the laptop, actually) and, although I didn't make any partitions on it nor touch the existing ones (the system recognised it as sdb and I installed KUbuntu in my main HD, sda) after I rebooted the PC the USB HD does not work at all.
I even tried it under Windows and the hard drive directly hangs the system if it's connected at boot time, and almost hangs it if I connect it with the OS running.
Any idea of what could've happened or how can I fix it?
    Thank you very much.

    LuTHieR

Edit: I can mount the device manually by adding it to fstab and mounting it via mount, but it still does not work neither in KDE (when I connect it sometimes it appears a "there's a new USB device, what would you like to do with it?", I tell it to open it in a new window... and nothing happens) nor in Windows :S
Working...
